Account & Data Deletion
Last updated: 22 May 2026
For the JeJal mobile app, developed by Kkiri
JeJal is a mobile app developed by Kkiri. In line with Google Play's User Data policy, this page explains how you can delete your JeJal account and the personal data associated with it — either directly in the app or by request.
1. Delete Your Account In the App
If you still have access to the app, you can delete your account yourself:
- Open the JeJal app and make sure you are signed in.
- Tap Profile.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Account.
- Tap Delete Account and confirm.
Deleting your account this way is permanent and cannot be undone.
2. Request Deletion by Email
If you no longer have access to the app or your account, you can request deletion by email instead:
| Item | Details |
|---|---|
| Send to | team@je-jal.com |
| Subject line | Account Deletion Request |
| Include | The email address or nickname linked to your account, and — if applicable — your university |
| Response time | We confirm receipt within 2–3 working days and complete verified requests within 30 days |
When requesting deletion, you can choose between two options:
| Option | What happens |
|---|---|
| A) Full deletion | Your account and personal data are deleted. This requires a legitimate justification and may involve an identity check before we proceed. |
| B) Delete account, anonymize content | Your account is deleted. Posts and comments remain, attributed to “Deleted user”. The link between your identity and your content is irreversibly destroyed. |
3. Data That Is Deleted
Once a deletion request is completed, the following data is permanently removed:
- Account credentials and login identifiers
- Profile data (nickname, university, language, and — if provided — programme, department, semester)
- Student verification status data
- Timetable and free-period data
- Push notification token
- Pods you own and messages you sent
- Posts, comments and reviews (unless you chose option B, anonymization, instead of full deletion)
4. Data We Retain, and Why
Some data cannot be deleted immediately because of statutory retention obligations, open moderation cases, or technical necessity. After a completed deletion request, the following retention periods apply:
| Data Category | Retention After Deletion |
|---|---|
| IP addresses | 7 days |
| General access logs | 90 days |
| Pod messages | Duration of pod + 30 days after dissolution |
| Notices you filed or that concern you | 2 years |
| Moderation decisions | 2 years |
| Removed content (archive) | 6 months |
| Litigation-related data | Up to 3 years after end of dispute |
| Payment records (future paid features) | 10 years (§ 147 German Fiscal Code) |
